Janet grew up in Dutchess County, attended Roy C. Ketcham High School and graduated from Suny New Paltz with a BS in Psychology and an Elementary Education Teaching Certificate.

In 1980, Janet joined the Mike Arteaga's team as a part time waitress and liked the club atmosphere so much the she signed on as a full time employee. Janet held the positions of restaurant supervisor, accounts receivable clerk, front desk supervisor and general manager. As general manager, her focus has been on improving member retention and customer service. Since taking over as general manager, Janet and her team have been instrumental in evolving Mike Arteaga's Health and Fitness Centers into a nationally recognized health club. In 2000, Janet was named CEO. In 2001 and 2002 she was critical in the building and opening of the Highland center and currently oversees all club operations for both centers.

Janet was honored in 1991 with the YWCA Salute to Women and Industry award for reducing overhead by 10-15% and as reorganizing and managing the customer service area of the facility.
